No. While it is unusual not to catch fish on your trip, it happens. All of our guides take it very seriously to meet your expectations and catch fish. However, we also emphasize to all of our guides the importance of education of fly fishing and hope that at the very least you will leave with an understanding of the sport.
No. All of our private waters mandate a strict catch and release policy. In addition, a large part of our public waters are mandated catch and release, flies and lures only. If your goal is to catch and keep a few, some of our high country trips in USFS allow for keeping fish.
Yes. The Colorado Division of Wildlife requires that you have a fishing license when fishing any river in the state (public or private).
The Colorado Division of Wildlife requires you to have a valid CO drivers license and to have lived in the state for 6 months.
The shop reserves the right to cancel the trip in the event of dangerous weather or conditions.
No. Our insurance policy requires a medically trained guide to be present on every trip. In addition, most of our land owners request no unguided fishing on their property.
While you are welcome to bring your own fishing gear, we supply all fishing gear on our guided trips (waders, boots, rods, reels, terminal tackle and flies). Please bring a hat, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, adequate clothing, a camera and cash for gratuities.
It is always better to have more than less. In the summer it is good to have a long sleeve light weight SPF fishing shirt, rain jacket, light weight fleece and light weight wool hiking socks. In the winter it is important to layer up like you would if you were going skiing. Heavy wool socks, long johns and fleece pants are very helpful.
Yes. We offer door-to-door service in the Steamboat area on all fishing trips.

Some of our trips are fine for kids as young as three. However it depends on river flows.
Scattered storms won't prevent us from rafting. However widespread systems or big storms will cause us to cancel.
Keep in mind rain in Steamboat does not mean its raining in other areas that we operate.

We try to keep parties together. However you may have others in your boat. You can request a private boat for an additional charge.
No alcohol is allowed on our rafting trips.
